Lane and I got married three years ago and we have yet to print out a single wedding photo.
Apart from a wedding book I finally put together, we’ve lived in this house of ours with barren walls and the item “frame wedding photos” sitting on my to-do list with zero traction for the last year.
Until I came across Still Novel at the end of 2019.
I’m a words person. This is not surprising, I’m sure. I swoon over the chance to describe things with nouns and adjectives, to fill my walls with words that empower and embolden and equip me for the days ahead. And so I stumbled across this company on Instagram in December and immediately knew, “This is the first thing I will hang on our empty walls.”
I’m the type of person who believes every picture holds a story within it. That’s how I’ve felt about each of our wedding photos. Like every photo could tell you about the crisp night and the holiday tunes playing in the air. Like just beyond that photo there was fake snow that people threw at us as we made our way out of the wedding or a milk + cookies bar for the holiday lovers who want a chance to feel young at heart.
As I designed my signature print, I had the chance to describe the day, the songs, the moments— I had a chance to embed these details into a frame and preserve a piece of our big day forever.
Still Novel was created by two girl bosses— Tiffany and Eden— who wanted to find a more significant way to showcase the memories from the past. They wanted a piece of art that could actually transport you and bring your photo to life. I’m a sucker for editorial spreads and that’s why I am obsessed with this piece because it has all the makings of a newspaper article that’s been cut out and put on display. I thought this would originally be hung up in our bedroom but I want people to see it. I want people to read the details and see the joy on our faces. I want people to make their own because a) support for small businesses is the best and b) it’s just too dang beautiful to not hang one up in your own home.
At this point, I am going to be ordering Still Novel gift cards for anyone I know with an upcoming wedding or a new arrival into their family because the work they do is exceptional and it’s one of those gifts that you would never know you needed until you see some of the beautiful artwork they offer.
In the spirit of V-day coming up, Still Novel is offering 10% off any order through 2/2. I geared up to spend a lot of time creating my print but it only ended up taking me 10 minutes. As long as you have a photo available that you know you want to use, the process to make your own is an absolute cinch.
TELL ME I’M NOT ALONE
Are you someone who also takes three years to print photos and put them on display? Any tips for the ones of us who love the memories but struggle to just print the dang thing?
I’ve tried so hard to get better at this and I rejoice in this baby step I’ve managed to take! I want to hear from you!
